Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Kolkata-based defence shipyard Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd launched the third edition of its Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS) on Friday, August 22, 2025. The initiative, inaugurated by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, aims to drive technological advancements in shipbuilding through collaboration with MSMEs and start-ups.
The launch event was attended by GRSE Chairman and Managing Director Cmde PR Hari (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding) Cdr Shantanu Bose (Retd.), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel) Capt P Sunilkumar (Retd.), Chief Vigilance Officer Abhishek Ranjan, and other senior officials of the shipyard.
GRSE’s GAINS initiative has become a national open challenge, designed to encourage innovators to develop solutions that align with India’s “Make in India,” “Start-up India,” and Atmanirbharta missions. The 2025 edition focuses on Artificial Intelligence, renewable and green energy, energy efficiency, and overall efficiency enhancement in ship design and construction.
The first two editions of GAINS saw encouraging participation, with over 100 proposals received nationwide and winners emerging from both MSME and start-up categories. Building on this momentum, GAINS 2025 seeks to fast-track innovation and help transform GRSE into a future-ready shipyard. Innovators can apply through the official GRSE website.
